Annual Strategic Theme
Our strategic theme for 2025 is “Muslim Women Navigating Theology, Ethics, and Society.” This theme centers the role of Muslims in shaping theology, ethics, and society from the
inception of Islam to the present day. We will explore the way theology and ethics have historically shaped Muslim communities and how they continue to evolve in response to
contemporary challenges.

Jadal is the annual dialogue among Muslim female scholars, researchers and practitioners on issues of global importance to Muslim women. It takes place at the Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women from January 31 to February 2, 2026 in Doha, Qatar.
Together, we will explore the past, reflect on the present, and seek to inspire possible solutions for the future.
Jadal is an event held in both English and Arabic.

Engaging with the Qur’an, hadith, and Islamic intellectual tradition to explore how foundational texts and schools of thought frame issues of theology, ethics, and society today.
Examining how theology, ethics, and society structures have changed over time, considering the expansion of the Muslim ummah, and financial patronage, as well as, colonization, modernization, secularization and legal transformation in both Muslim-majority and minority contexts.
Addressing pressing legal, theological, ethical, and social issues affecting Muslim women today, while exploring solutions for strengthening theology, ethics, and community-building in the modern world.

Jadal is the annual research gathering for
Al-Mujadilah. Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women strives to foster a Muslim society where all women are engaged, their participation and contributions acknowledged and recognized, and their concerns and perspectives shape contemporary Muslim thought and open public discourse.
